XLS file to convert a column of DD (decimal degree) coordinates to DMS (degree minute second)

 

Paste in your columns of DD latitudes and longitudes, then copy the converted columns of values back to whichever document you're working on. Easy!

I've found a lot of good converters out there, but so far all of them make you convert one value at a time. That's not useful when you have hundreds of geographic points to convert! (Or when you don't have access to ESRI ArcMap to run its handy built-in conversion feature.) So, I made this to convert many at once.

 

The excel spreadsheet has 3 sheets, pick whichever results in the output you want.

1) Degrees Minutes Seconds separated only with spaces (ex: 24 16 8.23)

2) Degrees Minutes Seconds separated with symbols and spaces (ex: 24° 16' 8.23'')

3) Degrees Minutes Seconds broken out into three different columns

 

This file created with OpenOffice, but saved as .xls (microsoft excel opens it with no problems)
